REVIEW: GHOST IN THE MACHINE

WARNING: This book and videos may be too scary for children younger than 9 years old.

2nd in the series:

Ghost in the Machine by Patrick Carman
Reading level: Ages 9-12

Hardcover: 192 pages
Publisher: Scholastic Press (October 1, 2009)

I read this book late last year, I found this book very very interesting because I  love things about the supernatural.  It is a chilling story about two kids named Sarah and Ryan who live in Skeleton Creek who discover a ghost.  The book is not just a story it is actually Ryan's journal, the story is from his point of view.

Here is the description from Amazon.com:
Strange things are happening in Skeleton Creek...and Ryan and Sarah are trying to find out why. Ryan writes down everything in his journal, and Sarah records everything on her videocam. The two move deeper into the mystery they've uncovered, determined to discover the secrets buried in Skeleton Creek, in the conclusion to Patrick Carman's thrilling series.

In this groundbreaking format, the story is broken into two parts -- Ryan's text in the book, and Sarah's videos on a special website, with links and passwords given throughout the book.

One of the cool things about this book is that it is interactive.  Which means that when you go on Sarah's website you enter a code that you get when you finish certain sections of the book.  When you enter the password onto the website a video of the last few days  in the story appears.  This is the part that can be VERY SCARY.  In fact, I had a nightmare after reading the first book of the series and watching the videos.  The first book was called Skeleton Creek, but you do not need to read it first.

This is a total page turner!  I could not stop reading it, I finished it in about 3 days!

If you like ghost stories and mysteries you will LOVE this book!

RATING:  5/5 BLABBIES

BONUS for my readers!
